BIO

Frederick Mitchell started his career as a forward with Norwood in 1909. At 5’11” (180cms) he also played roles in the ruck and as a “crack backman” in his 39 games for the Club before the Great War.

His best years as a league footballer were 1910 and 1911, winning the Club’s Most Improved Player award for 1910. He was an all-rounder, putting on a song and conjuring act for the Redlegs’ Annual General Meeting in 1910. After a year in Broken Hill he played his last season for the Redlegs in 1913.

He enlisted for service in the Great War in 1916 and served as Lieutenant in the Australian Flying Corps in France in 1918.
