He was named to play against South Park on 20 September 1884 but the match was won on forfeit

The following note from the SA Advertiser Tuesday 30 Sep 1884 p 7 confirms that he was a Norwood player in 1884.

"The red-and-blues, who were minus the services of Hill, Bragge, Brophy, and McGuire, had some difficulty in mustering a team, but after a short delay E. T. Woods, Tonkin, Lockyer, and Coombe [sic] were pressed into the service, and the game was commenced"
