BIO

Carlton Imperials 1874-75, Carlton 1876-77, South Melbourne 1881.

Vice captain in 1878, McMichael was a gritty wingman and forward who started with Carlton Imperials and then Carlton before advancing as a ‘strong and active follower’. In Carlton’s 1877 premiership side his stamina and courage added their quota to the triumphs. At Norwood he played every game in SAFA matches, kicked one goal and proved as fresh at the finish as at the beginning of a game, ‘a splendid dodger, very cool and an excellent kick.
