Ivan Nancarrow joined Norwood in 1953. The previous season he had represented a combined Broughton under 23 team, against Norwood's Senior Colts.
From the Koolunga Football Club in the mid north of South Australia, Nancarrow was impressive in the 1953 pre-season trials. Playing as a wingman, he showed promising signs when pitted against Norwood champions, Sam Gallagher and Doug Olds.
A speedy footballer, capable of kicking with either foot, he could also play as a rover.
Nancarrow made his League debut in the opening round of the 1953 season and was named as second rover to Peter Vivian, resting in a forward pocket. Sadly, he sustained a knee injury in this game, and did not play League football again.
Later in the year, he was due to play for the Broughton Association in the Country Football Carnival, but had to withdraw due to injury.
He appeared briefly in Norwood's Reserves in 1954, and represented the Broughton Association in June of that year.
