BIO

Recruited from the Adelaide Hills, Luke Nitschke was only 17 when he made his league debut in 2002.

A popular clubman known to his mates at ‘Nitta’ or ‘Schnitzel’, he developed into a reliable utiity player over eight seasons.

He was born at Stirling on 12 March 1985 and played as a junior with the Lobethal Football Club until the age of 16.  He accepted an invitation to try out with the Norwood under 17s and went on to play underage age football with the Redlegs’ under 15, under 17, under 19 and reserves teams.

He kicked 12 goals in 76 reserves games and won the best and fairest award in 2005.

‘Nitta’ was noted for consistent high performance in his 89 league appearances.

After retiring from Norwood, he continued playing with Lobethal for more than 10 seasons.
