BIO
Matthew Thomas Nunn played his early football for Magill Primary School (where he won the Premiers Cup) Athelstone FC and the Payneham/Norwood Union FC.
"Nunny" progressed through Norwood's junior programme, and in 2013 was named the Under 16 team's most valuable player. He also captained the State Under 15 and Under 16 teams.
In 2014 he played 18 games for the Norwood Reserves and was runner up in the best and fairest award. Importantly, he made his league debut as a 16 year old in the same season.
Nunn struggled to consolidate his spot in the seniors however, and only managed 20 league games over the next three seasons.
He had a memorable year in 2018, finishing third in the club's best and fairest count, playing 20 league games and being awarded the coaches trophy.
Nunn made another 13 senior appearances in 2019, bringing his overall total of games to 54.
In 2020 his efforts were rewarded with the Woods Medal for outstanding leadership and service, and another coaches trophy.
A talented mid-fielder with a strong work ethic, Nunn was appointed club captain in 2021. He led the team to a premiership in 2022, and was co-captain with Jacob Kennerley in 2023.
In 2023 he reached the 100 game milestone in round nine and announced his retirement from the SANFL at the end of the season.
Nunn returned to Payneham/Norwood Union FC in 2024 playing in division one Adelaide Footy League.
