BIO

Edward Clyde Padman was born on 26 January 1878 at Kent Town. He attended Prince Alfred College and the University of Adelaide where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1897 and a Bachelor of Law in 1900.

Padman commenced playing with Norwood in 1894 and although he played every year until his final season in 1901, he was not selected in the 1894 and 1901 premiership teams.

In April 1915 Padman enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) as a captain and was promoted to major in August of the same year. He served with the 27th Battalion at Gallipoli and was discharged due to illness in November 1915.

Padman died in January 1950 at Brighton after a long and successful career as a solicitor in South Australian country areas.
