BIO

George Pickering joined Norwood from Western Australia and played his first league game for the Redlegs in round one 1965.

A hard-working ruckman/follower, he played 20 senior games in his first year at The Parade.

At the start of the 1966 season he was hampered by injury and only managed another six league games for the year.

Pickering played some very good football for the reserves however and was named the team's best ruckman.

He led the first ruck in the 1966 reserves Grand Final against Port Adelaide on the Adelaide Oval. Norwood trounced Port by 75 points and Pickering kicked three goals.

Pickering played 12 league games in 1967, and four in 1968.

He was later named playing coach of Payneham in the South Australian Amateur Football League, and represented South Australia in 1971.
