BIO

Recruited from Albert Park/Hotham Hill in 1879, Pollock gave great service during his seven seasons representing the Norwood Football Club.

A tireless and determined follower, who was noted for playing on the ball the entire match, Pollock was one of the club's finest performers in a period when Norwood rarely lost a game.

Transferring from Victoria in 1879 as an established medium-sized follower, he quickly became a prominent member of the "Reds", earning state selection in the first South Australian side to play Victoria on July 1 1879.

Pollock made an immediate impact in his first season at the club and continued to shine throughout his career.

Not noted as a good kick, he still managed to share the club's leading goal kicking award in 1881.

He played against Essendon at the Kensington Oval June 23 1883;  the first time a South Australian club team had defeated a touring Victorian team.

He decided to take on umpiring in 1885, but returned to the club's playing ranks in 1886.
