William Arnold Ribbett played for Norwood II (Reserves) in 1906 and went on to record two games for the League side in 1907.
He was named second best for Norwood II in their Grand Final win against Semaphore Central in the Adelaide and Suburban Association on 29 Sept 1906.
A blacksmith by trade, Ribbett was 32 years old when he enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) in March 1916 and served in France before being wounded in action in 1917.
After an extended period in and out of hospital he returned from England to Australia and was discharged from the army in 1919.
William Ribbett's great grandson Kieran Ryan played 24 games for Norwood from 1991 to 1996
