BIO

Recruited from Waikerie as a ruckman in 1972, Greg Rix was a good mark, possessed a neat left foot, and generally moved well for his size. He was selected in the state under 19's in 1973, and was vice-captain of the Norwood Thirds in the same year.

Rix was a member of the 1974 Reserve premiership team which defeated Glenelg in the Grand Final. He was named at centre half back and was ranked high in the best players.

Moved to a half back flank in the league side of 1975, he became an integral part of Norwood's defence and subsequently played in Norwood's premiership side that broke a 25 year drought.  Earlier in the year, Rix had represented the State 21 and under against Queensland, at Football Park. 1975 continued to prove a big year for Rix, as he was also adjudged the team's Most Improved player.

In 1976 he played in his second Reserves premiership. Selected in the first ruck as a run-on ruckman, he was again prominent in the Grand Final.

The Reserves won another flag in 1978, the club's centenary year. Rix was named in a Grand Final squad of 22 and the Redlegs subsequently accounted for West Adelaide, 24.15 to 18.11.

In 1979 he was named captain of the Reserves when he also won the coveted E.A. Johnson Service award.
