Donald Vivian Roach joined Norwood in 1970 after taking a year off from football, having had a long and stellar career with West Adelaide.
A quick, well balanced left-footer he provided much needed experience to the young Norwood player list.
He was runner-up in the 1970 best and fairest, playing mainly as a follower/flanker .
After retiring as a player, he went on to serve the SANFL as an administrator, including general manager between 1974 and 1984.
Don Roach was chief executive officer of the Sydney Swans in 1985-86, and NSWAFL Commission Chairman of the Sydney Football League between 1989 and 1995
An inaugural member of the South Australian Football Hall of Fame in 2002, Roach is also a member of the West Adelaide Football Club Hall of Fame. He was West Adelaide captain coach from 1966 to 1967.
