BIO

Originally from the Onkaparinga Valley Football Club (Hills Football League) Barrie Schoell had already played 68 league games for Sturt (1988-1993) before he moved to the Parade.

A competitive and determined on-baller/wingman he overcame a long term knee injury to make his Redlegs debut in Round 13, 1995. He kicked three goals for the game, and made another six senior appearances for the season. In Round 16 he was a member of the team that defeated Woodville-West Torrens on the Woodville Oval : 31.13 to 6.5. The 158 points winning margin remains a club record.

Schoell also played 12 games for the Norwood Reserves during 1995, and was a star performer in Norwood's Grand Final victory against South Adelaide : 19.15 to 7.9.

He was rewarded with a Reserves "Meritorious Performance" award in 1996, but only managed two league games for the season.

In 1997 he was named the Reserves Best and Fairest, and made six senior appearances in the powerful league team.

The following year he played in another reserves flag. On this occasion Schoell captained the side and was a solid defender in Norwood's 19 point victory against Port Adelaide.

Schoell then returned to the Onkaparinga Football Club
