BIO

Benjamin Speight played his early football at the Athelstone and Hope Valley football clubs and was a member of Norwood's development squads before representing the Redlegs at under 17 level.

In 2005 Speight played half the season in the under 17s, and was selected in the SANFL under 16 scholarship squad.

The following season he tied for runner-up in the Norwood Under 17s best and fairest award.

He continued to progress through the grades, and in 2007 played 18 games for the Reserves.

In 2008 he made his league debut in round 18, kicking two goals against Port Adelaide.

He played five senior games in his first season, and represented South Australia in the AFL under 18 championships.

Speight was selected by North Melbourne in the 2008 Rookie Draft. The skilful forward/midfielder played his first AFL game in 2010 (Round 17), goaling with his first kick on debut. He was delisted at the end of the 2012 season after 10 AFL appearances.

The Werribee Football Club was aligned with North Melbourne at the time so when not selected by North, Speight played for Werribee in the VFL. He continued his association with Werribee after his delisting, and went on to play over 100 games for the club.

Speight later had stints with the Wangaratta Magpies (Ovens and Murray League) and with Bacchus Marsh (Ballarat Football League).
