Lynn Stewart won the best backman award for the Norwood thirds in 1970. He had a solid season in 1971, playing 19 matches for the reserves, and winning the best first year player award.
Stewart added another 14 games to his reserves total in 1972 and made his league debut in round 15 of the season and played three senior games for the year.
In 1973, the reliable defender played 19 games in the reserves and two in the seniors.
Whilst Stewart managed to play another three senior games in 1974, he was predominantly selected to play in the reserves. His 20 games for the year brought his overall total to 72.
Stewart was named on a half-back flank in the 1974 reserves grand final team which convincingly defeated Glenelg
