Thomas Victor Storey carved out a brief, nine game career with Norwood prior to entering military service in 1914. Nonetheless, he left an impression. He was named high among the side’s best against South on June 6 . The Advertiser reporter praised him for his “fine ruckwork.”

Storey was again named in the best players on June 27 against Sturt but this time playing at half back.

He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) on August 25 and his last game was at Norwood Oval on August 29. A report of the game in The Advertiser on the following Monday, had this to say: “ Phil. Robin and Storey had been granted leave from the infantry ranks at the Morphetville camp and took their places among the red-and-blue men.”

Happily, he left on a winning note with Norwood defeating North Adelaide by seven points.

Thomas Storey served at Gallipoli and in France and was twice wounded in action. He was promoted to the rank of Company Sergeant Major (CSM) and was discharged and returned to Australia in 1918.
