BIO

James Nettlebeck Tummel served the Norwood Football Club as a player and official across some five decades.  Born at Tanunda on 20 April 1929, he was educated at Nuriootpa High School and won best and fairest in the Barossa and Light Football Association in 1945. That led to an invitation to train with Norwood and he was named best backman in the Norwood Senior Colts in 1947.

He played three league games as a defender under Jack Oatey in 1950 before a broken scaphoid bone in the wrist effectively ended his playing career.

Jim served as a member of the NFC board for three separate terms.  He was president in 1981-82 and became the club's eighth patron in 1996, resigning during the "troubles" of 2003. Initially a banker, he turned to stockbroking and was chairman of the Adelaide Stock Exchange from 1977-79.

Jim Tummel died in Adelaide on 22 August 2014.
