Lachlan Turner attended a "tryout" day organised by the Norwood Football Club in November 2002. He was then given the opportunity to do a pre-season with the Redlegs and impressed enough to be selected in the League side for Round 1, 2003. Unfortunately, hamstring strains restricted his League appearances and he only played five senior games for the year.
Turner had already played League football for Sturt ( 8 games, 1995-96) before turning up at The Parade. He had also played with St Peter's Old Collegians (South Australian Amateur Football League), and had a season with Myponga Football Club (Great Southern Football League) in 2002.
