On June 27, 1885 Tuxford  played for the Norwood Juniors against Hotham in the Adelaide and Suburban Association.

Norwood were defeated : 1.1 to 2.2.

Then on April 17, 1886 Tuxford played for the Norwood Juniors Twenty Five in a pre season match against Norwood, on the Kensington Oval. Tuxford injured his arm in the first half. After a slow start, the Norwood seniors proved to be too good for the their younger opponents, and ran out comfortable winners : 8.13 to 2.1.
