BIO

John Warhurst attended St Ignatius College in Adelaide, before studying politics and economics at Flinders University.

He made his league debut in round 10, 1968 against Glenelg, when Norwood lost a cliff-hanger by two points.

Playing at centre half back Warhurst was a dour defender making 10 senior appearances in his first season.

He struggled to hold his spot in the league team the following year however and only managed one senior game for the season.

Warhurst spent almost all of 1969 with the strong Norwood reserves line-up that went on to win the premiership.

John's brother Tom (246 NFC games) and father Hubert "Tom" (94 NFC games) both had outstanding careers with the Norwood Football Club.

John Warhurst is an Emeritus Professor of Political Science at the Australian National University in Canberra.
