BIO
Don Willsmore played junior football for Uraidla in the Hills Football League. In 1950 he was named the club's best B Grade junior and in 1951, the best young player in the A Grade. The following season he was awarded a trophy for his performance in the A Grade Grand Final.
Willsmore had solid seasons as a mid-fielder in 1953 and 1954 before joining Norwood for the 1955 season.
He made his league debut in round 15 against West Adelaide. Willsmore impressed the umpire and received one vote in the Magarey Medal count. However, that was to be his only senior game for Norwood.
Named Norwood's Reserves best and fairest, he had shown enough to suggest he may have developed further with more experience.
The following season Willsmore returned to Uraidla and played in their A Grade premiership.
