Born in Adelaide in 1988 to parents who were from Hong Kong, Li played basketball, cricket and Gaelic football as a child before taking up football. In 2015, she tied for the Best and Fairest Award at Adelaide University Football Club in Division one of the South Australian Women’s Football League (SAWFL). A quick midfielder and half forward, Li was a prolific ball winner who would regularly kick goals.
Li had an outstanding year in 2017. She played in all seven games of the inaugural season of the SANFLW and finished the year as a premiership player along with the medal for Best on Ground in the Grand Final. Li also finished joint runner up in the inaugural SANFLW Best and Fairest Medal.
Later that year, Li was also a member of the Adelaide University Women’s Division 1 Premiership Team in the Adelaide Football League, playing alongside many other Norwood footballers including her Norwood premiership team mates Nicola Burns, Matilda Van Riel, Whitney Benson, Kayla Edwards, Georgia Taylor, Ruth Wallace and Ebony O’Dea. Norwood Assistant Coach Tess Baxter was also an Assistant Coach of Adelaide University. Li was also awarded the Best and Fairest (Abrey Medal) for Adelaide University that year.
Li was then drafted by Carlton, and after one season she moved back to Adelaide to play for the Adelaide Crows where she became a premiership player in 2019 alongside another Norwood Premiership team mate, Marijana Rajcic.
Li combined her football pursuits with her job as a Paramedic, and announced her retirement in July, 2020.
